Bata Staircase

Details

Architects: Woods Bagot.

Manufacture in 2012 the stair case goes up 3 floors in a corkscrew design. The sub-structure was all steel step treads with steel stringers. Karisma made the timber framing all the way along the 2 stringers and the wrapped all the American oak veneer to the stud frames. All the veneer shapes were templated onsite first then machined & polished at the Factory. Then re-installed onsite.

The veneer has a limewash finish the timber treads are spotted gum with clear polyurethane finish with carborundum non slip edge strips. Due the complexity of the curved walls he metal handrail was also curved and fitted onsite.
